Prescriptions
Prescriptions can be ordered via the prescriptions email – fv.viewfieldscripts@nhs.scot; through your local community pharmacy, via Patient Access or by dropping a request into reception. Prescriptions requests cannot be taken over the telephone.
When ordering, please allow time for the physical transfer of the prescription to the pharmacy and for the pharmacy to dispense the medication.
When required, the practice is able to track prescriptions that have been issued via the printed barcode.
At the practice we have 3 kinds of prescriptions.
- Repeat prescriptions. These can be ordered by giving the practice 2 days notice. Your prescription, once signed will be sent directly to the pharmacy of your choice, please advise reception which pharmacy is suitable for you.
- Acute Prescriptions. These prescriptions require the issuing doctor to checked additional details to ensure that this medication is still suitable for you. As such, these prescriptions can take 5-7 working days to process.
- Permissible Repeats. These prescriptions are set up similarly to a “repeat” but only for a certain number of issues. This allows the Admin Team to print the request and ask that a GP sign within 2 days, however, before the last permitted issue is printed a request is sent to the GP, who started the medication, to ask them to review if the medication is still suitable for you. The doctor may choose to extend the number of available issues or they may ask the patient to make an appointment. The Admin Team are unable to print or process any permissible repeat prescriptions that are waiting to be re-authorised by a GP.
